Reasons for Increased COPA America Centenario 2016 Prize Money: If the opinions of the sports pundits are to be believed, the 100 {6d5c0de61785b6465e85db141e2d32959c251e0e25a73ac667d28d1a1cbcc092} increase in the prize money is partly to mark its 100th edition and partly due to signing the big TV rights deal with FOX Sports in English and Univision in Spanish for the USA. These twin TV rights deal with Fox and Univision has augmented the prize money from $10 million to astronomical $ 21.5 million. Some do argue that the number of teams participating in this edition of the tournament might have played a big role to increase the prize money substantially.

The team that clinches 4th place in the tournament will get $2.5 million whereas the team, that will secure 3rd place, get $3 million. The team, that will bag the competition, get $6.5 million whereas the runners-up will have $4.5 million.
COPA America Centenario 2015 Prize Money: In the previous year Copa America tournament, only $10 million prize money was divided into 12 teams. The runners-up had $3million, whereas third and fourth placed teams had bagged $2million and $1million respectively.
